Meet Our Team

PROPRIETOR: KEN ROBINSON


Ken served his time as a toolmaker at Ashley’s in Ulverston. He then went on to work at Bowater-Scott’s as a mechanical fitter. While working there he set up Stately Gates, originally known as Urswick Engineering. As the business grew he moved premises and took it on full time, employing more and growing the business to what it is today.

CRAFTSMAN: JOHN


John joined the business 21 years ago and is our longest standing member of staff. John is mainly in the workshop fabricating all various deigns of gates, railings, handrails etc. John is our workshop expert on all the top designs of gates made and uses his own initiative when it comes to problem solving.

AUTOMATION ENGINEER: KEITH


Keith started with Stately Gates in October 2015. Keith is a fully qualified electrician who commissions all of our automated gates. He collaborates with Shelby to cover all aspects from quotes and services of existing installations to full automated systems. Keith enjoys the complex installations and trying new innovative equipment to better our services.

GROUND WORKER: ANDREW (BRUFF)


Bruff is our groundwork specialist and is a fully qualified 360 excavator driver. He is our main fitter and ensures that the product is fitted correctly and left looking its best. He also works alongside our automation engineer to complete any groundwork needed before automation is finalised.  

PAINTER: COLIN


Colin is our paint specialist and makes sure that our products look there very best before leaving our workshop. Colin strives to meet all customer needs when it comes to colour matches and preferences. Colin also makes sure that all galvanizing is up to a high standard and organises the customers products before they are sent out with the fitters.

TEAM MASCOT: LOTTIE

CRAFTSMAN: DAVE


Dave started with the business in September 2008. Dave spends most of his time out fitting our products alongside Bruff to ensure our work is completed to the highest standard. When Dave isn’t fitting he is in the workshop fabricating, he specialises in structural steelwork and is a fully qualified blacksmith.   

RECEPTIONIST: SHELBY


Shelby is responsible for the smooth running of the office and ensuring that all queries are answered thoroughly. From the enquiry stage to quotation, production and installation and after sales care. Shelby will discuss with you your requirements over the telephone or in the office, then arrange for one of our craftsmen to come and visit you to ascertain your exact requirements.

CRAFTSMAN: JON


Our latest recruit is Jon. A time served engineer who will be working alongside our other craftsmen to produce even more high quality products.
